On Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 March 2026, the 34th edition of the "FAI Spring Days" returns. It is the largest public event dedicated to Italy's cultural and landscape heritage and represents the most effective way in which the FAI - Fondo per l'Ambiente Italiano has carried out its mission since 1975: educating the public about the knowledge, appreciation and protection of this heritage so that it may belong to everyone, forever.
By accepting the invitation of FAI, from 1993 — the year of the pioneering first edition of the event — to 2025, nearly 13.5 million Italians have had the opportunity to discover and rediscover more than 17,000 special places in the cities and regions where they live.
The FAI Spring Days, like the Autumn Days, are therefore a valuable opportunity for Italians to learn about and appreciate the wonders of their country. At the same time, the event is an important awareness-raising and fundraising initiative supporting the Foundation's mission of public service in the care and protection of cultural heritage, in the spirit of Article 9 of the Italian Constitution and according to the principle of subsidiarity (Article 118).
Funds raised through memberships and donations during the event directly support FAI's institutional activities and allow the Foundation to carry out restoration work and enhancement projects, some of which are particularly demanding, across the 75 heritage sites it manages and preserves. Of these, 60 are regularly open to the public, allowing all citizens to enjoy them, now and in the future.
During the FAI Spring Days, 780 sites in 400 Italian cities will be open to visitors with a voluntary contribution. These places have been selected with endless curiosity and passion and will be accessible thanks to the exceptional organizational work of FAI volunteers, who are able to involve — even before the visiting public — institutions, companies and private citizens who generously make these sites available, contributing to this great "collective celebration."
It is a diverse and multifaceted heritage, often unexpected and always fascinating, composed of treasures of history, art and nature — some well known, others hidden — as well as stories, traditions and knowledge that are preserved and renewed by the communities that safeguard them.
