Castelfidardo (AN)

Castelfidardo is a town in the province of Ancona, in the Marche region. It stands on a hill about 200 meters high and is located a few kilometers from the Conero Riviera. It is also known as the home of the International Accordion Museum. The museum is housed in the town hall, in Piazza della Repubblica. Also noteworthy is piazzale Don Minzoni, known as Porta Marina, which represents the "balcony" of the city, overlooking the Adriatic Sea. Also of note is the old aqueduct in Piazza Garibaldi, and the national monument of the Marche, designed by the sculptor Vito Pardo on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the battle of Castelfidardo which allowed the annexation of the Marche and Umbria to the Kingdom of Italy, and inaugurated in 1912.
