Pergola (PU)

Pergola, in the province of Pesaro Urbino, is appreciated for its beautiful historic center, which has earned it a place among the most beautiful villages in Italy, and for its food and wine traditions, starting with that of the White Truffle.

The National Fair of the Precious White Truffle of Pergola is traditionally held in October, when it is also possible to take advantage of the guided tours that are organized for visitors.

Pergola also gives its name to a Controlled Designation of Origin for the production of wines based mainly on Aleatico grapes, in red and rosé varieties. Truffle-based dishes accompanied by local wines can be enjoyed in the taverns and farmhouses where it is not difficult to come across in the city and its surroundings. Among these we can point out: Agriturismo "Ca 'Sorci" (3336783300); Farmhouse “Il Casale” · (0721 734879); Agriturismo "Locanda Magnoni" (338 2922176); Farmhouse "XIX Century" (338 2769135); Osteria "La Pergola" (0721 734297); Osteria “Trattoria del Borgo” (0721 735736), which for some years have joined the "AmiAmo il Tartufo a Pergola" initiative on the weekends of June and July.

Among the attractions not to be missed is the Museum of the Gilded Bronzes and the City of Pergola, where you can admire a statuary group of Roman origin, with an "immersive" vision of the statues, created by Paco Lanciano. Also noteworthy is the Palazzolo Chapel, with a splendid series of fifteenth-century frescoes from the Marche region. Other early Renaissance frescoes can be seen in the Church of Santa Maria di Piazza, which is the oldest in Pergola and is located near the Town Hall.
