Attention: this is the card from a past edition. Search the site or check with the references in the text if there is an edition scheduled for this year.

After the success of last year, with over 500 entries, Villa Valmarana ai Nani in Vicenza celebrates again the night of the shooting stars - in the legend of the tears of San Lorenzo - opening exceptionally for the evening of 10 August, from 20.00 to 24.00.

You can admire the splendid frescoes by Giambattista and Giandomenico Tiepolo in an unprecedented way, letting yourself be embraced by the magic of the night, walking in the historic park and in the Italian garden.
We recommend that you bring a blanket to look up. From the large lawn you can admire the sky surrounded by the beauty of Palazzina, Foresteria and Palladian Portico, and by the dwarves who guard the surrounding wall. Of course, paying attention to the safety distance!

The bar of the villa will be open until 22:00 with free entry and our Smartguides and the videos of the Immersive Room will be able to accompany you on your visit.

And certainly there was no lack of news for this special night of San Lorenzo 2021:... read more»

Villa Valmarana ai nani and the frescoes by Giambattista and Giandomenico Tiepolo

Villa Valmarana ai Nani consists of three buildings in a large period park. The Palazzina (1669), the Foresteria and the Scuderia (1720) are surrounded by rose gardens, an Italian garden with a scenic backdrop and a well, and a hornbeam. It takes its name from the statues of the 17 stone dwarves, once scattered in the garden, now arranged on the wall surrounding the property. The suggestive legend of Princess Layana is linked to them. The extraordinary nature of the Villa is largely given by the double hand of the father and son, of Giambattista and Giandomenico. The father mainly frescoes the Palazzina with themes from the client's favorite books; the son in the Guest House gives free rein to his imagination, leaving the Room of the Olympians to his father's brush. It is universally considered the expressive peak of eighteenth-century painting and the highest testimony of the genius of the Tiepolos.
