From 13 to 15 October 2023 the historic center of the city of Mantua welcomes the second edition of Sbrisolona&Co., the Festival dedicated to Sbrisolona and typical Italian desserts. The event, organized by SGP Grandi Eventi, promoted by Confcommercio Mantova with the patronage of the Municipality and the contribution of the Lombardy Region.
A three-day event dedicated entirely to the most famous regional Italian pastry products, with a focus on Sbrisolona and the numerous characteristic Virgilian desserts.
From 13 to 15 October the historic center of the city will become a treasure chest of sweetness, to celebrate the queen of the Mantuan confectionery tradition, the Sbrisolona, a cake made of "crumbs" which has its origins before the 1600s when it also arrived at the Gonzaga court . At the same time, the sweet food and wine excellences of our peninsula will also find space to delight the palates of adults and children.
In short, an unmissable event for all those with a sweet tooth, from enthusiasts to professionals, who will be able to taste, purchase and learn about traditional desserts.
The rich schedule of events will be hosted in a spectacular tensile structure of about two hundred meters called PalaVirgilio, set up in Piazza Leon Battista Alberti, where show cooking, guided tastings, workshops and culinary challenges will be held, alternating with workshops and informative and cultural events. There will also be awards ceremonies and interviews conducted by illustrious guests, during which the public will be able to meet and listen live to big names from the culinary and pastry scene, but also personalities from entertainment, sport and journalism.
The most evocative corners of the center will then be animated by shows and entertainment, such as exhibitions, tourist itineraries, round tables, conferences.
Then there will be room for the awards ceremony: during Sbrisolona&Co., in fact, the "La Gemma dei Gonzaga" award will be awarded to a prominent personality who has contributed to the valorisation of Mantua and its territory at a national or international level while the "Virgilio di Zucchero" award it is an award that aims to reward the prestige and fame that a pastry shop has brought to the Mantua area.
