Suvereto (LI)

Suvereto, in the province of Livorno, is located in Val di Cornia, in Tuscany, between the Maremma Livornese and the Maremma Grossetana. Registered in the club of the most beautiful villages in Italy, it is a town that retains its medieval imprint and boasts a long wine tradition, so much so that it is also part of the Città del Vino association. Among the deserved awards there is also the "Orange Flag" of the Italian Touring Club.

Among the prominent events there is the Wild Boar Festival, which is traditionally held between the end of November and the beginning of December, an excellent opportunity to try local products, including oil and wine, and of course the possibility to taste numerous dishes based on wild boar, game typical of the area.

In summer, on the other hand, another excellence of the territory is celebrated, this time it is wine, with the Notti di Vermentino. Among the local wineries, if you are looking for a wine tour, we can mention Bulichella, Gualdo del Re, Incontri, Macchion dei Lupi, Petricci and Del Pianta, Tenuta Casadei, Bruscello, La Fralluca, Petra, Terradonnà, Tua Rita, Tenuta Casadei .

The traditional event par excellence, however, is certainly the Palio di Suvereto which takes place twice a year. It consists of a competition with "pushers" of barrels, which takes place through the paved streets of the historic center. The Palio di Santa Croce, is held in May in conjunction with the patronal feasts while the second, called the Emperor's Palio, falls on 13 in August.
