Corciano (PG)

Corciano is a town in the province of Perugia, in Umbria, which stands on a hill at 408 m a.s.l., 12 km north-west of Perugia. Corciano is part of the club of "The most beautiful villages in Italy", as well as of the Trasimeno Medio Tevere mountain community, being located approximately halfway between the capital Perugia and Lake Trasimeno.

On a historical-architectural level, the church and convent of Sant'Agostino are worthy of note, which represent one of the most important Augustinian monuments in Umbria and rise on the hill next to the one where the village of Corciano stands. One kilometer from the village stands the majestic castle of Pieve del Vescovo, the ancient summer residence of Cardinal Fulvio della Corgna and the bishops of Perugia, including the future Pope Leo XIII.

Corciano, thanks to its proximity to Lake Trasimeno, can also boast an important tradition in the oenological field, in particular for the production of Gamay del Trasimeno, the local variety of the Grenache grape. So for some years at the end of the summer the medieval botgo has hosted the Corciano Castello di Vino event in collaboration with the Colli del Trasimeno Wine Route and the Trasimeno Wines Protection Consortium.

Among the local gastronomic excellences, the Fagiolina del Trasimeno should be mentioned, which is also a Slow Food presidium.
