Civita (CS)

Civita (CS)

The village of Civita is located in the province of Cosenza and is also known as the "village among the rocks". This name was attributed to it due to the immense mountains that surround its valley. The quaint village is located in the heart of the Pollino National Park. A characteristic element of Civita is the medieval stone bridge, also known as the Devil's Bridge on which a legend is told.

Civita is among the historic Albanian communities of Italy, of which it still retains the traditions, language and customs. Even in the local cuisine you can rediscover the Albanian tradition influenced by the Calabrian one. Among the typical dishes we find the civitese kid, accompanied by Pollino wine.
