Another specialty of Borgo Val di Taro is a sweet of Swiss origin. It was the early 1900s when many inhabitants of the Engadine, in the Canton of Grisons in Switzerland, left their homeland to move to Italy. Many of them stopped in Borgotaro, one opened a pastry shop there. His name was Maurizio Steckli and he brought with him a unique recipe that today is the sweet symbol of Borgo Val di Taro. They are the Amor, vanilla cream and butter cakes closed between two wafers. A small square of sweetness arrived in Emilia from the Alps. Currently the Steckli pastry shop is managed by Mrs. Paola Tagliavini who learned the Amor technique from her mother Maria Zecca who worked in the shop precisely from those who brought the famous dessert to the Borgotaro area. , and subsequently to Pontremoli.
