Carnival in Veneto

Carnival in Veneto

If we think about where to go during the Carnival in Veneto, the first destination that crosses our mind is Venice, one of the cities with the oldest tradition linked to the Carnival. The Venetian Carnival is an event to be seen at least once in a lifetime, where you can admire the typical masks and costumes of the festival, watch the Flight of the Angel in Piazza San Marco, taste castagnole, frittelle and galani, and take part in masked balls.

But Venice is not the only destination for those wondering what to do during Carnival in the Veneto region.

In the province of Vicenza, for example, one of the best known Carnivals is the historic Carnival of Malo, of which we have news starting from 1867. The event includes a spectacular parade with numerous allegorical floats, skilfully built in papier-mâché by the skilled masters of the Association of Friends of the Carnival and of the Carristi Group.

Another Vicenza event not to be missed is the Carnival of Lonigo which every year attracts numerous tourists from all over the region who flock to admire the parade of masked floats along the streets of the centre. During the Leoniceno Carnival, there is no shortage of food stands with traditional pancakes and mulled wine.
