Best Italian Wines and Vines

Italy is one of the largest producers of fine wines DOC and DOCG particularly known and appreciated around the world.

Not only Tuscany red wines (Bolgheri Superiore DOC, Tignanello IGT, Flaccianello della Pieve IGT, Chianti ClassicoBrunello di Montalcino) deserve a mention among the most important Italian wine production. Valpolicella (Amarone), Frascati, Barolo and Barbera, Torcolato, are just a little sample of fine wines well known in the world.

In order to define the finest wines of Italy it is first necessary to establis the standard by which this classification should be: the fame in the world, the price, the presence in the wine lists of the best restaurants? Or the awards received by the best sommeliers and the most authoritative guides?
There are many Italian wines and vines appreciated and well known all around the world, mostly red: if you refer to the top Italian wines you can't start from the Brunello di Montalcino and Chianti Classico, both of Tuscany, Barolo and Barbera, of Piedmont, but there are others, not so well known, that are often in the top of the charts of the best wines in the world. It is the case of the Tuscan Tignanello Bolgheri Superiore DOC or IGT or even the Flaccianello della Pieve IGT.
Among the great Tuscan wines you can not fail to mention the production of Marchesi de 'Frescobaldi, with Castel Giocondo Brunello, Riserva Chianti Rufina DOCG Nipozzano, with the wines of Tenuta Ornellaia.

Even according to the most recent ranking of Wine-Searcher.com, the famous website of the American wine industry, are the "big Tuscan" the only ones to fit in among the great French wines as the most sought-after wines, to be precise: Sassicaia Tenuta San Guido (in 13th place), the Marchesi Antinori Tignanello (28), Ornellaia (33) and Masseto (39) of Ornellaia and Solaia (51), also of Marchesi Antinori.

Changing point of view, if we look with high quality, in Italy there are many notable productions that achieve a level of excellence in wine, spread over all the country, from many native varieties of vines that the "renaissance" of Italian wine is helping people to rediscover.
