Amarone della Valpolicella: Wine route, Wineries map

Amarone della Valpolicella

Wine tour area: Valpolicella

"Amarone" is one of the greatest and most known Italian red wine. The production area, the Valpolicella and nearby hilly areas, is placed between the beautiful walled town of Soave and the Garda Lake. We are a few kilometers far from Verona, well known city of art, famous for its Arena and the Juliet's house and balcony (the Juliet of Romeo and Juliet story telling).

The Amarone of Valpolicella, like the other wines of the Valpolicella DOC (Valpolicella, Valpolicella Superiore and the Valpolicella Superiore Ripasso), is made with a blend of local natine vines, mainly Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella and Molinara, and produced with a special winemaking process: Amarone is made from dried grapes, like the sweet wine Recioto della Valpolicella, but is a dry wine with a high alcohol content (usually more than 15%).

If you love Italy and the great Italian wines, and you're planning a tour in the north-east of Italy (we are in Veneto, the Region of Venice, Verona, Padua, Vicenza and Treviso), you cannot miss the Valpolicella and its best wine, the Amarone della Valpolicella. Use this map to plan a wine tour: buying some bottles during the visit of the wineries it is possible to save money, and to taste the wine before buying it!
