Castell’Arquato, in Val d'Arda, on the Piacenza hills, is part of the club of the most beautiful villages in Italy and has obtained the Orange Flag of the Italian Touring Club. For lovers of good wine there is also the land of DOC Monterosso Val d'Arda white wine.

Castell'Arquato, joins the tourist circuit of the "Wine Cities" and in the month of August, on the days when the night of San Lorenzo and the "shooting stars" falls, takes part in the "Calici di Stelle" event, promoted by association at national level by the Wine Tourism Movement.

At the end of the summer, however, on the first weekend of September, you might come across the event "Relive the Middle Ages", a historical re-enactment festival in which the village of medieval origin is enhanced, and the customs and habits of a difficult historical period are savored again. undeniable charm: chivalrous challenges, jesters and fireworks will animate the village whose streets are animated by stalls of mesterianti and sellers of themed objects, circus shows and the essential stands with typical foods.

Autumn, on the other hand, is traditionally animated by the Chestnut Festival, on the first weekend of October, flanked by the Festival of Memories, for a weekend of gastronomy, traditions and folklore. The protagonists are chestnuts, prepared as bastürnon, that is fragrant roasted chestnuts in the Piacenza dialect, roasted at the moment on huge wood-fired braziers, or in the patona the typical chestnut. The DOC wines of the Colli Piacentini, offered directly by local companies, complete the party.

The historic village deserves a careful visit as it offers various buildings of interest, including churches, palaces, the Visconti fortress and even some museums.
