Casalecchio di Reno (BO)

Casalecchio di Reno is a town in the metropolitan city of Bologna in Emilia-Romagna. Third most populous municipality in the metropolitan city of Bologna, it hosts the administrative headquarters of the Union of the municipalities of the Reno, Lavino and Samoggia valleys.

Casalecchio di Reno is just 6 km from Bologna, and is divided in two by the Reno river, rising on the slopes of the first hills of the Emilian Apennines.

Among the points of interest included in its municipal territory is the Casalecchio di Reno Lock, an imposing dam built in 1360 with the function of regulating the flow of water from the Reno River, preventing flooding and conveying part of it in the canal of the same name. The sluice was named by UNESCO "Heritage messenger of a culture of peace in favor of young people".

Among the interesting buildings in the surrounding area we note the Hermitage of Tizzano which is located in the hills that flank the town (Monte Capra), Villa Marescalchi, the Casa Museo Nena.

During the summer months, from June to September, the municipal administration organizes a rich calendar of cultural and entertainment events.
