Cantiano (PU)

Cantiano is a town in the province of Pesaro and Urbino, in the Marche region. Surrounded by suggestive beech woods, it has obtained the Orange Flag of the Italian Touring Club for the quality of its tourist welcome. The village is located at 360 meters above sea level. straddling the Marche and Umbria, crossed by the Via Flaminia, which connects Rome to the Adriatic coast.

The Catria massif, which overlooks the town with its 1701 meters above sea level, is the highest altitude in the province of Pesaro and Urbino.

Cantiano is also an important center from the food and wine point of view, due to the presence of a great variety of renowned delicacies, such as the Amarena di Cantiano and the bread of Chiaserna, without forgetting the polenta alla carbonara, the Catria beer, the truffle and forest products.

The tradition in horse breeding is also important, so much so that there is an indigenous breed with sober and robust features raised in the wild, the "Cavallo del Catria", of great charm for its skills as a worker yesterday, and as a sportsman today. Thus in Cantiano the "Horse Fair", which generally takes place in October, represents an important tradition. For the occasion there are hundreds of exhibits, with activities designed to involve the whole family, including carousels, demonstrations of equestrian schools and mountain trails, procession and historical work mounts, but also competitive competitions and, for all, a carriage ride.
