It starts with a dry white wine – Cortese – and the idea of bringing a menu to the Tortona hills that rivals a seaside restaurant. Gavazzana is now known for the Fish and Cortese Festival, which has been organized for over twenty years on the terrace of Belvedere San Martino, a natural setting for one of the most admired views in the province.
The village, perched 334 meters above sea level, and the festival location offer a panoramic view of the Scrivia Valley that satisfies everyone: you dine in the square and among the gardens adjacent to the parish church, where wooden tables and benches are lined up with views of the surrounding hills, marked by vineyards, woods, and fields with the varied colors of different crops.
