Sagra del Ciammellocco e dei Longarini a Cretone

A delicious traditional doughnut to be enjoyed along with a special first course in Cretone, a hamlet in the municipality of Palombara Sabina, a small village on the outskirts of Rome, famous for its hot springs. Eggs, flour, anise, lemon and olive oil from Sabina are the ingredients behind ciammellocco, which will be freshly cooked and served hot. The special taste given to it by the seeded anise, grated and squeezed lemons, and the anise and anisette liqueur mean that Ciammellocco is not just a simple dessert, but rather a true return to the traditions of the past and the ancient values to be recovered. The food stands also offer longarini al sugo, a simple and tasty first course made with handmade water-and-flour pasta.
