The Sagra dei Cecapreti e della Bufaletta takes place in Villa Santo Stefano (FR) and revives the ancient ritual of the "liberanza di agosto."
Cecapreti, also known as "strozzapreti," is a traditional local dish served with "bufaletta" – a buffalo meat stew with a side of vegetables – and accompanied by excellent local wine.
The dish has its roots in a distant past when anti-clerical sentiment was strong and widespread throughout the Frusinate area.
The event is organized by the local Pro Loco in collaboration with and under the patronage of the Municipality of Villa S. Stefano, as well as with the sponsorship and support of the Lazio Region's Department of Tourism.
