In Val Sangone the coordinates of the places where the mushrooms grow are handed down from father to son with the absolute prohibition of revealing them to people outside the family. The mushroom has been chosen for forty years now as the typical product of excellence of Giaveno, which likes to define itself as its "capital".

"Fungo in festa" takes place in October and in 2021 it obtained the title of regional fair from the Piedmont Region. Possession of the requirements allowed entry into the "club" of the most famous fairs, alongside the Carmagnola Pepper Festival and the Alba Truffle Fair, to name the most famous and nearby.

Giaveno is the only Piedmontese city to have a regional fair dedicated to the mushroom.
