At the end of August, when the hot summer days begin to give way to cooler temperatures in Cabras it is time for "Curridoris"; it is time for "Corsa". The Feast of San Salvatore - Corsa Degli Scalzi is a religious event that involves the entire community of Cabras, on the first Sunday of September and the Saturday preceding it.
The wait for those who will fulfill a vow, advancing quickly for many kilometers, with a barefoot race, has lasted a whole year. The race along the dusty and dirt road that leads to San Salvatore, with its approximately one thousand barefoot "Curridoris", exclusively from Cabras, the suggestive morning procession of women in traditional dress are just some of the moments that make the Feast one of the main cultural offerings of Sardinia, appreciated by tourists who increasingly come to Cabras on this occasion.
In recent years, in fact, the municipal administration of Cabras, together with the Organizing Committee of the civil celebrations of San Salvatore, the Association "Is Curridoris" and the Association "Santu Srabadoeddu" have worked to make the Festival a moment of strong sharing and give the public the opportunity to experience together an ancient rite, rich in moments of faith and traditions that have their roots in centuries-old stories, handed down from generation to generation.
